Straight up delivers

Want a thick, textured, silicone, powerful, multi-speed waterproof vibrator that has an easy to use control? Then you’ll want to get your hands on the Straight Up traditional vibrator by Evolved Novelties.

I really like the design of this vibrator, especially the wheel-like dial base at the bottom. Truly a very good alternative to buttons. Now while the actual body of the toy is made of silicone, the base/handle is a hard plastic except for the strip of silicone that acts as a water deterrent. Also, there’s Evolved’s logo in silicone on the very bottom. It’s not an unyielding vibrator. In fact, it’s flexible and squishy, which I think will make the girth (1 3/4″ diameter) a little less intimidating for some.

It’s long at 8 1/4″, but only 5 of those are insertable. The length combined with the girth make for a fullness that I like. There’s a bit of drag to it, so I always use lube with it (water-based only). The thick bands of texture around the body are noticeable during play, but the nubs are less so. At least for me. If you angle it just right you should be able to stimulate your g-spot, but I like using it for simple in-and-out thrusting. It feels damn good when I use it for that purpose.

The vibrations are strong, but surprisingly quiet even at its highest setting. They might be heard through covers, but definitely will not be heard through a door. The vibes are deep and rumbly and I like that about them. They are easily felt throughout the toy, except on the lowest setting they are primarily at the tip for pinpoint stimulation. The wheel-like dial control is extremely easy to manipulate, so much so that you might accidentally change the setting as you use it. However, I’ve rarely had that problem. The base that houses the dial doubles as a handle. It’s easy to hold and fits nicely in my hand.

One disappointment I had with this is that mine has a small gap between where the body ends and the base begins. I noticed a bit of dried gunk in this gap and I didn’t like seeing that there. However, that has no bearing on its waterproof…er…ness. The silicone strip I mentioned earlier does its job. As for the battery compartment, a simple twist counter-clockwise opens it up. You insert two AA batteries (not included), close the compartment, and you’re ready to go.

You can clean the vibrator with anti-bacterial soap and water, a 10% bleach solution, or toy cleaner. But do not boil this toy and do not put it in your dishwasher.

I can’t find a single negative about this vibrator. It’s high quality, durable, and I love the rumbly vibrations combined with its girthy-ness. Wait, actually I can–I’d love it even more if it was rechargeable. Although it doesn’t come with batteries, if you order it at EdenFantasys (a sex shop I trust) between now and August 14, you’ll get a free pack of 4 AAs. Great review, and great showcasing of an Evolved Novelties vibrator. I have a few of them, and I loveeeeeeeeeee them — almost more than LELO, even.
